💡 Local secret

Gran Alacant residents come here every day at sunset - it is our daily ritual! At weekends you will find local families having picnics. On a clear day you can see as far as Benidorm (70 km north) and the Sierra Nevada mountains!

Why is the Gran Alacant viewpoint a must-see on the Costa Blanca?

The Gran Alacant viewpoint (Mirador de Gran Alacant) stands out among other Costa Blanca miradors primarily for its accessibility and authenticity. Unlike the popular viewpoints in Benidorm or Alicante, which are always crowded with tourists, the Mirador de Gran Alacant remains a local treasure known mainly to residents of the area. This is a place where you will not encounter tour buses or souvenir stalls - just natural open space with benches, peace and an uninterrupted panorama of the Mediterranean Sea. The viewpoint is particularly popular among landscape photographers who value it for its expansive horizon and variable lighting conditions. During the summer season at sunset you will find groups of friends with glasses of wine, families on evening walks and couples seeking a romantic spot. In winter the viewpoint is virtually empty, offering a unique opportunity for solitary contemplation with views of the rough sea.

What walking trails lead to the viewpoint?

Residential trail (20 min): The simplest route leads through the streets of the Gran Alacant residences, passing gardens with bougainvillea, whitewashed houses in Andalusian style and small squares with fountains. The route is well marked and safe.

Cliff trail (35 min): A more demanding but spectacular path runs along the cliff edge from the Carabassi Beach side. Along the way you pass rocky formations, wild Mediterranean plants (rosemary, thyme, agaves) and enjoy views of the turquoise water. Requires good footwear - not recommended after rain or with small children.

Cycling trail (8 min): For cyclists the best route follows the main road through the residential area with a dedicated cycle path section. There is a bike rack at the viewpoint. Bicycles can be hired in the centre of Gran Alacant or in Santa Pola.
